Butterflies (4 yrs - 5 yrs)

This class, for the older preschooler, places more emphasis on the learning
process. Students will be introduced to additional sophisticated, hands-on
learning centers. Butterflies are usually most responsive to activities in which
they are involved in a “hands-on” manner. We offer exciting, carefully
researched programs. Your child will develop critical thinking skills and the
social maturity needed for school years and beyond. This occurs through a
combination of academic experiences, exploration, nurturing care, structure
and positive guidance. He/she will be working on pre-kindergarten skills by
being introduced to the alphabet, phonics, pre-reading skills, language arts,
pre-math skills (including counting and simple addition), calendar, seasons,
and exploratory science. Your child will have hands-on experience using a
state-of-the-art computer center with dynamic and innovative age-appropriate
software. Research has shown that children learn most effectively by doing,
so we offer a wide variety of activities in our learning centers that have been
specifically created to meet the developmental needs of the individual child.
We will continue to enhance gross motor co-ordination through our “kid's
fitness” program, with an opportunity to play in our outdoor play area and our
socio-dramatic indoor playground. Your child will be well prepared for the
challenges of his/her early school years.
